In fiscal 2011, the Knorr-Bremse Group saw sales climb more than half a billion euros or 14% to EUR 4.24 billion (2010: EUR 3.71 billion).

Knorr-Bremse makes agricultural trailers safer
Powerful tractors today pull increasingly heavy trailers at relatively high speeds. As a result, the requirements that agricultural trailers have to meet are becoming more and more similar to those of truck trailers, making it more important than ever for agricultural vehicles to be fitted with the latest safety-critical components. In response, Knorr-Bremse has engineered an innovative system for the agricultural sector – a new field of activity for the company – based on its proven electronic braking system for commercial vehicle trailers.

Change in Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG
Dr. Raimund Klinkner, Chairman of the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG, is to leave the company by mutual agreement with effect from 31.12.2011. Dr. Lorenz Zwingmann, Executive Board Member for Finance, Controlling and IT, will take over the role of Executive Board Spokesman for a transitional period.

Terrible famine in East Africa – Knorr-Bremse Global Care e. V. provides emergency aid
According to the United Nations, the drought that has struck the Horn of Africa is the worst for the past 60 years. Millions of people are threatened by starvation. By way of emergency aid, Knorr-Bremse Global Care e. V. has provided a donation of EUR 200,000.

Knorr-Bremse equips 10,000th Chinese metro car
Knorr-Bremse has further underpinned its strong position in the Chinese market. The order to equip 240 cars for Metro Line 1 in Kunming, the capital of the Chinese province of Yunnan, ensures that Knorr-Bremse will soon be supplying the braking system for its 10,000th metro car in China.

Knorr-Bremse donates a car to DocStop
The non-profit organization “DocStop für Europäer e. V.” was created in 2007 to provide German and foreign truck drivers with professional and uncomplicated medical support en route. Knorr-Bremse, a sponsor and partner to the DocStop initiative, is also supporting the association through the donation of a car that will in future be out and about as a “DocMobile”.

Knorr-Bremse Commercial Vehicle Systems voted “Best Brand” for the sixth time in succession
Once a year, publishers ETM and the DEKRA technical inspectorate ask the readers of commercial vehicle trade magazines trans aktuell, lastauto omnibus and FERNFAHRER to name the best commercial vehicles and the industry’s best brands. For the sixth time running, in the voting for the best brands of 2011, Knorr-Bremse came out top in the “brakes” category.

Knorr-Bremse donates EUR 1.5 million to help victims of the natural disasters in Japan
In view of the dramatic events of the last few days and the catastrophic situation in North-Eastern Japan following the earthquake and tsunami, as well as the consequences of the nuclear disaster, the Knorr-Bremse Group has decided to donate EUR 1.5 million to support the relief effort.

Knorr-Bremse wins VDA Logistik Award 2011
The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) has presented Knorr-Bremse Commercial Vehicle Systems with the VDA Logistik Award 2011. Introduced in 2008, the Award is an accolade recognized across the industry, designed to honor innovative logistics concepts along the automotive supply chain. Among the main criteria for the jury are the visionary quality and innovative potential of the concepts submitted, as well as the economic benefits they bring. For the VDA, the aim of the award is to draw attention to the importance of the logistical processes.
