Line 2

The first platform screen door system in China was installed by Westinghouse Platform Screen Doors on Guangzhou Metro Line 2, which crosses the city from north to south and has a total of 20 stations.

The 34 underground platforms, each 130m long, are fitted with a total of 1020 doorways to match the 6-car x 5-door trains supplied by Changchun Bombardier Railway Vehicles.

Westinghouse Platform Screen Doors enhanced its ‘PSD2000’ control software to provide the dual redundancy and sophisticated fault monitoring and diagnostics required by Guangzhou Metro Co.

Phase 1 was opened on 28 December 2002 followed by Phase 2 on 28 June 2003, well ahead of schedule.
